Un pas vers l'art et la mode : la collaboration entre Melissa et Y/Project

A step towards art and fashion: the collaboration between Melissa and Y/Project

Posted by Melissa France on

Showing boldness and innovation, iconic Brazilian footwear brand Melissa joins forces with Paris-based fashion house Y/Project for a remarkable collaboration that marries fashion, art and design.

A touch of history in contemporary fashion

Inspired by Y/Project Creative Director Glenn Martens, this collaboration introduces two new footwear designs that fit perfectly into Y/Project's design ethos. The brand has always excelled at mixing and distorting historical references and pop culture, past and present, high and low. This time, the Melissa x Y/Project collaboration is no exception.

The first model is a mule that draws inspiration from the historical Rococo period, often represented by miniature porcelain shoe figurines. With a reference to profusely ornate Victorian vases and the popular British tradition of porcelain objects, these mules twist the idea of preciousness to create a true slippery masterpiece.

The second model is a classic slide available in two colors, featuring Persian rug patterns and paintbrush-inspired prints. In keeping with the vision of a girl's dream of wearing a crystal shoe, this shoe offers all the comfort Melissa is renowned for.

A collaboration that defies trends

The disruptive quality of Y/Project's brand and design is Melissa's biggest motivation in this new collaboration. This is a new episode in their history and dedication to innovate and create trends, highlighting Melissa's three pillars: art, fashion and design.

The Melissa x Y/Project collaboration is not only a reflection of the craftsmanship and artistry of both brands, but it is also a testament to their shared commitment to sustainability. Melissa is dedicated to delivering fashion that contributes to more sustainable living, which creates remarkable synergy between the two brands.

About Melissa and Y/Project

Melissa, established in 1979, creates innovative fashion shoes inspired by fashion, art and design. She has collaborated with renowned artists and fashion designers around the world since the 1980s, making her a true pioneer in her field.

Since the appointment of Glenn Martens as creative director of Y/Project in 2013, this Parisian brand has managed to combine conceptual and inventive details with playful proportions and a witty interpretation of historical references. Y/Project has managed to establish itself as one of the most anticipated shows of Paris Fashion Week, thanks to its ability to interpret masculinity and femininity in a unique way.

Together, Melissa and Y/Project deliver a collaboration that pushes the boundaries of innovation and aesthetics, while remaining true to their dedication to more sustainable fashion.
